Helping Your Inner Light Shine Bright©
The animals need our help here, too! We encourage everyone to pray for and help strays, injured, abused or abandoned animals. When wondering how to handle a wild animal situation, compassion, research and education is always your best bet.
Below is a detailed reference list of links to animal shelters and other animal and wildlife rescue, rehab sites in Illinois. (They will open in a new window) Please try to contact no kill shelters. Many places now have connections on their websites where you can donate money to the shelter to help the animals in need, to help buy food and supplies. I have seen first-hand several facilities, some people take in animals in their own homes and give much of their valuable time, space and money to help them. So any donations are always a great help and appreciated! Many of these facilities & shelters are crowded, so we encourage anyone looking for a new animal companion to adopt.
*fyi- The shelter listed in Barrington on netpets.org is actually located in Huntley, IL.

This May, we rescued a pregnant stray cat from an industrial site and took her to Assisi Animal Foundation in Crystal Lake. They were the only place at the time willing to help and take in our feline friend. The foundation is non-profit and in need of supplies, donations, whatever help anyone can give would be wonderful! "Armchair adoptions" are available also. Their story is inspiring- check out their page:
